Our well-loved Community Evening returned last week exploring the theme of belonging – something that has been discussed widely across the Big Education Trust and amongst the staff here at SSq. Co-head Matt began the evening by asking parents, carers, family and friends what makes them feel that they belong? You can see some of the words and phrases that came up below!
The evening also was a chance to share our Superkind.org – inspired Community projects. Fi reiterated our long history of campaigning as a school – especially our work with South London Citizens. Here at SSq, we continue to inspire our children to become change makers who feel confident in sharing their voice and ideas for good.
Each Year Group shared their project, linked to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Projects ranged from tackling fruit waste at school (Year 1) to recycling and repurposing our old technology appliances and equipment (Year 5). Check our latest newsletters and social media channels for news and information about how you can help with these projects and help our children make a difference.
After a brilliant performance from the SSq choir, Nicola encouraged everyone to connect and have some curious conversations whilst sharing some delicious food made by parents, carers, teachers, family and friends. Thank you to everyone for coming and making the evening such a success!
