SSq Newsletter – 17th September 2025

Newsletter

Dear Families,

We had a fantastic Democracy Week last week, which ended with the Red Revolutionaries party being voted in as the very first leaders of the SSQ Pupil Parliament! A huge congratulations to our first ever Prime Minister, Amira Torres Mir (Year 6) and Deputy Prime Minister, Solana Marsh Florent.

Below, you’ll see this year’s full Pupil Parliament, including the cabinet members and MCs representing each class. We can’t wait to see them leading change across the school and putting their manifesto ideas into action. For more details on what went on during Democracy Week, click here.

This week, teachers in Years 1–6 are already using some of those brilliant manifesto ideas to shape this term’s Changemaker Projects. These projects link closely to our school ethos: Build a Better World, empowering children to take action on issues that matter to them and make a meaningful difference to others. You can read more about our vision and values here.

In assembly, we continued exploring our value of the half term: Respect. We focused on how we can respect and support those in our school with allergies – thinking about the importance of asking questions, not sharing food and telling an adult if someone seems unwell.

After school clubs are back – please check out all the information below about current spaces in our wide-range of exciting clubs.

Finally, a reminder that our Meet the Teacher meetings have started this week. Please do come along to your child’s year group session to find out more about what’s planned for the term ahead. It's a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and hear about the exciting learning, routines and experiences coming up. Please do check out all the key dates for this year at the bottom of this article.

Have a fantastic week!

Matt
