SSq Newsletter – 1st April 2025

Newsletter

Dear Families,

I can’t believe we’re already in the final week of term—so much has happened over the past few months!

First of all, Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim families who have been celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. We hope you’ve had a wonderful time marking this special occasion with your loved ones.

We’re really looking forward to Night at the Museum on Wednesday evening—a fantastic opportunity to see all the incredible learning that has taken place this term. The children in Years 1-6 have put so much thought and effort into their final project outcomes, showing perseverance as they refined their work. Their outcomes focus on combining their history learning with some of their art, design and creative skills. In Early Years, the children will be proudly showcasing everything they have explored and discovered this term. I’d like to thank all of the staff who have worked tirelessly to support the children and present their work in creative and engaging ways—I can’t wait to see it all! Please join us from 5-6:30pm—you can arrive at any time during this window. There will be a museum café in the pavilion, and don’t forget to pick up a treasure hunt on your way in! Children will go home as normal at 3:30pm and will only be able to return at 5pm with an adult.

We’re also excited for the Year 5 drumming performance Today (Tuesday) at 2:40pm. The children have shown perseverance in learning this new skill, taken responsibility for perfecting their rhythms, and most importantly, found real enjoyment in making music together! Year 5 families, we’d love to see as many of you as possible for the performance.

As it’s the end of a full term, school will close at 1:45pm on Friday. All children must be collected at this time, and please remember that there are no after-school clubs on Friday.

Enjoy the holidays! If you’re celebrating Easter, we wish you a happy Easter. To everyone, have a safe, happy, and enjoyable two-week break—we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 22nd April.

Matt

I am available in school from Monday to Wednesday – do get in touch ([email protected]) if you have any questions in the meantime.

We were really proud of our pupils who spoke to Children’s Commissioner Rachel de Souza and housing campaigner Kwajo Tweneboa. Their story affects so many of our community – please read and watch the full piece for Sky News here.

Keep an eye on my information page outlining advice from me about various issues that may concern you plus many opportunities that are available to you and your family here in Southwark.
