SSq Newsletter – 26th March 2025

Newsletter

Dear Families,

We are now into the final two weeks of this half term, and as always, so much has been happening at Surrey Square!

Over the last two weeks, children have been showing great perseverance as they completed their assessments in reading, writing, and maths—we are so proud of their effort and focus.

Last Friday, our Surrey Square Shakespeare Company took to the stage at The Source in Stratford, performing Twelfth Night as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. They were absolutely incredible—they truly shone on stage, and the audience loved it! We received so much positive feedback about their performance. A huge thank you to all the parents, carers, and staff who came along to support them. A special shoutout to Netra and Debbie for supporting the children on the day, and to Chris, who gave up so much time to make it happen. I had the pleasure of being involved in directing alongside him and it was an absolute joy!

A big thank you to everyone who wore a splash of red on Friday and donated for Comic Relief. The generous amount we raised will go towards supporting charities that help others—such a brilliant example of our school value of community.

Continuing the theme of community – On Friday, we welcomed Nabhi Das to our assemblies, who shared about the recent Hindu festival of Holi—what it means to Hindus and how they celebrate. It was fascinating to see the bright coloured powders used in the celebrations and to reflect on the similarities with other religious festivals.

A reminder that next Wednesday (2nd April) is Night at the Museum!
This exciting annual event will start at 5pm, and you can arrive any time between 5pm and 6:30pm to explore the "museum"—you don’t have to be here at 5pm! We’re looking forward to seeing all the fantastic learning from Early Years and the History projects from Years 1-6. Children will go home as normal at 3:30pm and return with an adult at 5pm—please note that unaccompanied children will not be allowed in.

Looking forward to another great week at Ssq!

Matt
