SSq Newsletter – 29th April 2025

Newsletter

Dear Families,

It was the London Marathon on Sunday and we were so proud to see a group of children from Breen Class and Year 3 take part in the TCS Mini London Marathon on Saturday in St James’ Park. I was lucky enough to be there to cheer them on—it was such a special atmosphere, full of excitement and pride. The children did a fantastic job, showing lots of perseverance and enjoyment throughout the race—well done to all of them!

We also celebrated the occasion last Friday with our own school mini marathon, giving every child the chance to take part. It was wonderful to see the children having so much fun, cheering each other on, and showing such brilliant support for one another.

This week is Autism Awareness Week, with the theme of friendship. Throughout the week, children will be taking part in activities exploring the qualities of good friendship and celebrating differences, linking closely to our school value of respect.

It looks like we are in for some warm and sunny weather this week, with the temperatures rising towards the end of the week. Please remember to apply suncream to your child before they come to school, send them in with a hat for playtimes and ensure they bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the day.

A reminder that it is the Bank Holiday next Monday (6th May), so school will be closed for all children. The following day, Tuesday 7th May, is TLC Day (for all year groups except Year 6). You should have received the link to sign up for your appointment. Childcare is available for working parents, but please ensure you have signed up if you need this—separate Arbour messages have been sent with all the details.

Matt
