SSq Newsletter – 8th October 2025

Newsletter

Dear Families,

Thank you to those families who attended their TLC Day appointments on Wednesday. These conversations are such an important opportunity to reflect on how your child has settled into their new year group and the progress they are making – both personally and academically. We hope you find the meetings helpful and supportive.

Don’t forget there are additional appointments on Thursday evening. We strongly encourage children to come along with you to your appointment.

In Monday’s assembly, we continued our focus on our value of the half term: Respect. This week, we explored how to resolve conflict respectfully, using real-life examples of playground disagreements. We modelled how to talk through problems calmly and clearly using our WIBIT sentence frame:

When you… I felt… Because… I would like you to… Thank you for listening.

This simple structure supports children to voice their feelings and experiences, while helping others to listen and reflect. It’s part of our ongoing work to help children build healthy, respectful relationships with each other.

Across the school, children in Year 1-6 have also been busy practising for the annual P Factor, which takes place next week. This special event is the culmination of our identity work, with each class coming together to perform a poem linked to the theme of who we are. It’s always a powerful and moving moment in the school calendar, showcasing the children’s creativity, teamwork and confidence.

Unfortunately, this event isn’t open to parents/carers, but we will be sharing videos of the performances with you afterwards – we can’t wait for you to see them!

Matt

This week, Year 2 made a visit to Westminster Cathedral to learn about the Catholic church as part of our learning about the different places of worship. It was amazing to see how well they listened and asked questions about the history and practices of Christianity.

You may have heard the recent discussions from politicians about changing the rules around Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). We are aware that many of our families might have ILR and are hoping to apply for naturalisation/citizenship in the future. Please contact me on fcarrick-davies@ssq.org.uk if you want to discuss this with me, as I’m looking for advice on how to best support people with the process.

I’ve also been made aware that some Health Care companies are revoking their licenses to sponsor overseas workers, which means that people in the care sector might lose their jobs and then their work visas might be withdrawn. If this applies to you, please see this website and let me know if you’d like to discuss this further. The government also has this website for support
