Dear Families,

This week we have been marking Neurodiversity Celebration Week, with assemblies led by Kathryn exploring how all of our brains work differently and how these differences bring unique strengths and talents. We talked about the importance of recognising that while some people may find certain things challenging, they may also have incredible strengths in creativity, problem-solving, determination or communication. Celebrating neurodiversity is an important part of building a community where everyone feels valued and understood. These discussions linked closely to our school values, reminding children that kindness, respect and understanding help ensure everyone feels they belong.

We were also able to explore this theme at the start of Visit Your Child in Class Morning this week. A huge thank you to our parents Jamie-Lee and Kafayat for sharing their powerful reflections about being parents of neurodiverse children. Their honesty and insight were incredibly valuable for our community and helped deepen our understanding of how we can support every child to thrive.

Thank you as well to everyone who joined us for Visit Your Child in Class Morning. It was wonderful to welcome so many families into school and to see the children proudly sharing their learning with you.

Last Thursday, World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of reading across the school. We were delighted to welcome two visiting authors, Ann Bryant and Kimba, who delivered inspiring assemblies and workshops throughout the day. There was a brilliant buzz around the school, and it was wonderful to see so many imaginative costumes — thank you for supporting the children with these.

A huge thank you to Helen and Netra for organising such a brilliant day for the children.

Comic Relief takes place next Friday (20th March). The theme for this is ‘Funny for money’ so we are asking everyone to wear something funny or something red which is the colour associated with Comic relief. There is a suggested voluntary contribution of £2 towards raising funds for the charity.

Here are some links to on where the money goes and what it is needed for:

Last week we celebrated another great World Book Day. It was brilliant to see the children dressed up and ready to share their favourite books. The day started with a stay and read, where all classes read for pleasure. A big thank you to all the parents who shared a book with a class or their child. All year groups then either had a workshop with Ann Bryant or Kimba involving stories, poetry and music. The day ended with a celebration assembly where each year group showcased their activities from their workshops, ranging from raps in Year 6 to drama in Reception. Key stage 1 also enjoyed a dress up catwalk. All in all a great day was had where a love of reading was shared and celebrated.
