Dear Families,
I can't quite believe I am writing this… this is our final newsletter of the academic year!
What a way to end the year with an absolutely fantastic SE17 Summer Jam. It was wonderful to see our school and wider community come together for such a joyful day. From the performances, activities, enterprise stalls and delicious food, to the petting zoo, funfair, sports and entertainment, there was a real sense of community and enjoyment throughout the day.
This year's event was particularly special as it marked our first Summer Jam in partnership with OKRFZ. It was brilliant to see what can be achieved when organisations work together to create opportunities for our children and families. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, ran activities or simply came along to support. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
If you haven't already done so, we would really appreciate your feedback to help us make next year's Summer Jam even better. Please do complete the feedback form.

As we head into our final few days, there is still so much to look forward to. On Wednesday, our Year 6 children performed their end-of-year production, Misjudged. Unlike a traditional school play, this is one of SSQ's signature practices. The performance has been written and devised by the children themselves and explores themes of discrimination, stereotypes and the importance of understanding one another. What a brilliant production it was! Well done to the children and year 6 team for pulling it all together.
On Friday, Year 6 share their e-portfolios with their families. This is another of our signature practices and always one of the most special days of the year. Rather than a traditional parents' evening, the children take the lead – sharing their learning journey, proudest achievements, favourite memories, aspirations and reflections from their time at Surrey Square. It is always a wonderful celebration of the whole child.
On Monday, reports will be sent home to families so please look out for these. We are also looking forward to celebrating being named a Top 10 Finalist in the World's Best School Awards (Don’t forget to vote for us here) with playground parties across the school during the afternoon. This is an incredible achievement for our whole community, and we are excited to celebrate it together.

We will also be marking two important milestones with our Nursery and Year 6 graduations next Tuesday. These are always joyful occasions as we celebrate children's achievements and look ahead to their next steps.
To our amazing Year 6 children – we wish you every success as you move on to secondary school. You are more than ready for the exciting journey ahead. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved during your time at SSQ and cannot wait to hear about all of your future successes.
A reminder that the term dates for next academic year have been available on our website for some time. If you haven't yet had a chance to look at them, please do check the website to help plan ahead (these are also available below)
If you missed my recent letter about staffing for next year, don't worry! You can find it using this link. The letter includes information about next year's class teachers, as well as the staff who will be leaving SSQ and those who will be joining our team in September.

Finally, I would like to thank every member of our school community for your continued support throughout another incredible year. Surrey Square is such a special place because of the children, staff, families and wider community who make it what it is. It has been another year full of memorable experiences, incredible achievements and countless moments that have made us all proud to be part of SSQ.
Have a wonderful, restful summer break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year together.
