SSq Newsletter – Wednesday 15th April 2026

Newsletter

Dear Families,

We hope you all had a lovely break and that those who celebrated Easter enjoyed that special time with family and friends. It was wonderful to welcome the children back on Tuesday – lots of smiles and a real sense of energy for the term ahead.

In our Welcome Back Assembly, we looked ahead to all the exciting things coming up this term – sports days, trips, experiences like the Year 3 sleepover, the summer festival and of course Year 6 finishing their SATs!

Our Pupil Parliament cabinet also gave an update on their work to improve the school toilets. They shared the repairs that have taken place and introduced a new expectations poster to help everyone use the space responsibly and respectfully.

Teachers in Years 1–6 have been busy planning this term’s STEAM projects, where children will be tackling real-world problems through science, technology and engineering. We’re excited to see where their ideas take them.

Across the school, from Nursery to Year 6, teams are also spending time over the next two weeks on provision mapping – meeting together to discuss every child and ensure the right support is in place to help them continue to make strong personal and academic progress.

We’re really looking forward to a fantastic summer term ahead.

REMINDER: As members of Southwark & Peckham Citizens, we are holding a local election Assembly in All Saints Church, Rye Lane, Peckham on Wednesday 22nd April, 5-7pm. We will be inviting some of the local politicians along, to answer questions about how they would support the community if they are elected as councillors in the May elections. If you would like to contribute to this, by either letting us know what local issues are most important to you, or by coming along on the night, please let me know [email protected]

Southwark Council are considering offering portable WiFi units for residents living in Temporary Accommodation, where WiFi isn’t already installed. There will be strict guidelines about who will be eligible for this – you must be on a low income and live in Temporary Accommodation provided by Southwark Council (not in accommodation that you rent privately from a landlord) and the council will carry out checks for each family. This accommodation could be in Southwark, or might be out-of-borough. Please let me know if you would be interested in finding out more.

Please keep an eye on this information page outlining information from me about various other issues that I can help with.
