Winterfest 2023 sees SSq stars shine!

Our Community

Well done to all the amazing children at SSq who performed in this year’s Winterfest performances. This year the theme was Community at Christmas and the SSq community did NOT disappoint!

The choice of songs came from the class teachers and their pupils who certainly brought their own passion and musical taste to the proceedings. Some of the Christmassy reworked songs on offer were from artists such as: Elton John, Cameo, Fleetwood Mac, Coldplay and the Backstreet Boys! A stand-out performance was from Year 6 Nikita Class who incorporated a live snowstorm into their reworking of Rihanna’s classic ‘Umbrella’. Of course there were some classic Christmas songs on offer including: Stevie Wonder’s ‘What Christmas means to me’ by Year 5 Tesla Class and a brilliantly re-worked version of Wham’s class ‘Last Christmas’ by Year 3 Sherald Class!

What stood out at this year’s shows was the number of children playing live instruments with their classes. Keyboards, drums, guitars and glockenspiels were just a few of the instruments on show accompanying the children on stage. There were also brilliant Christmassy performances from the violinists, drummers and guitarists on stage. Well done to everyone who performed and a huge thank you to all the family and friends who came to watch. All the performances were sent via the last newsletter of the term. As ever, please do not share them on social media. Enjoy the Christmas holiday and see you in 2024 for more musical magic at SSq!
